Tomoe-Nage

Tomoe-Nage is a spectacular judo throw. It is a sacrifice technique. To do it you need first to fall on your own back, sacrificing your position to gain an advantage.

How to throw with Tomoe-Nage

  1. Place your foot in uke’s stomach. Turn your foot, slightly so your toes point to the side.
  2. Drop down on your back. Attack as quickly as you can. Use the sudden drop of your body weight to break your partner’s balance.
  3. Use your foot, along with your hands to steer uke over onto their back. Uke should roll off to the side and onto their back.
