O-goshi – See how to do this judo throw


O-goshi is a hip throw and one of the best judo throws for beginners to learn, as it teaches tori to control uke’s fall. See more judo throws like this.

How to throw with O-goshi

  1. Pull uke onto tip toes to break balance to the front.
  2. As you turn in, leg go of your grip on the collar and reach around uke’s waist
  3. Lift using your legs and finish the throw rotating uke onto their back.
