TANI-OTOSHI – Blue Belt Judo Technique

Tani Otoshi for Blue Belt

TANI-OTOSHI is a technique suitable for Blue Belt students and is required by British Judo Association for 13th Mon or 2nd Kyu grade. It’s a technique that can be used to throw your opponent backwards. Many judoka often fail to set up for this throw properly. Improve your tani-otoshi by aiming to throw forward first. Use a quick twitch of the hips to threaten with a forward throw. This will get your partner to react by sinking their hips making it much easier to throw them backwards.
