Level: Beginners and upwards
The Scissors is a turnover to use when you are on your back and uke is between your legs. Use your legs to “scissor” your partner’s and by chopping their legs topple them over to the side and follow quickly into a hold down like Tate-Shiho-Gatame.
Next Turnover: Once you’ve got the hang of the Scissors – try the Reverse Scissors or the Lapel Roll.

For advanced judoka: Be ready to try this turnover if you end up on your back after a failed attempt at tomoe-nage. It’s a good way to turn defence into attack, but you need lots of leg control.
