LEARNING TO COUNTER KOSHI-GURUMA WITH URA-NAGE is a skill suitable for Brown Belt students and is required by British Judo Association for the 16th Mon or 1st Kyu grade. Ura-nage can be used to counter all sorts of forwards attacks. Often judoka find it hard to lift their partner. A good tip is to make sure you drop your own hips as you grab uke around their waist – the lower you are the more lift you will get and the more powerful your throw will be.
