JUJI-GATAME – Essential Green Belt Judo Skill
JUJI-GATAME is a key technique suitable for Green Belt judoka and is required by British Judo Association to grade to 11th Mon or 3rd Kyu. It is one of the most used arm-locks in competitive judo and there’s a good reason for that – it’s highly effective. A common challenge judoka face when doing this technique is keeping a tight control of the arm; if your grip is loose your partner will pull their arm out and away from you. Improve your control by using your legs and in particular bring your thighs together to trap the arm.
