An easy way to choose the right judo book

By Nik Fairbrother, 8th Dan, Koka Kids editor.

I began the Koka Kids Judo Books in 2019, with just one book: “40 Judo Throws, Learn How to Throw”

Roll forward five years, and now there are 20 different Koka Kids titles.

Which is great news. I feel I am really giving something of value to the judo community. And I think there’s a need for teaching materials for children throughout judo. It makes sense. After all, kids are the future for any dojo. They form base to our judo pyramid; and it stands to reason the larger the base the taller and stronger the pyramid.

But with the growing numbers of book also there’s some confusion. I was getting asked: Which book is right for my child who is just starting judo? Which book should I get my child who is a green belt?

One thing was clear. The Koka Kids library needed some organisation, and I’m glad to report it’s now been spruced and cleaned up. Do take a look!

The books are sorted into different series. So you can easily Choose Your Book.

Making it easier to find the right book.

Whether it’s technical skills your are looking for, or you’re looking to grade up to the next belt, or you are a beginner – you should be able to quickly find the right book for you!

Which series will you be checking out?
